Pop-up windows are created by scripting or programming languages within a website. When you visit the website, the site can create a new pop-up window. Also, when new applications are installed, they can create pop-up agents that will serve pop-up ads to the computer user. These agents monitor a user's internet activity, then pop-up ads designed to appeal directly to the internet user. Therefore, a web site or an application can create pop-up windows.
Computer users should keep in mind that some web sites use pop-ups to display valid information. This means that pop-up killers, like Howie Guard, can actually limit viewing of requested information.
Howie Guard protects you from pop-up ads - it is a pop-up killer. Howie Guard uses software built into any Windows, Mac, or Linux computer to limit pop-up windows that can be created by web sites you visit.
Howie Guard runs on a server at our facility. Once a computer is set to refer to that server, it sends web requests through the server to the internet. Web requests that may result in a pop-up window are killed at the server. | |

An adult content filter allows a parent to limit access to questionable and inappropriate websites. An adult content filter checks a web site requested by a computer users against a database of sites that contain or may contain:
- pornography
- hate content
- obscene and profane language
- criminal activities
- dangerous subject matter
The database of questionable sites is constantly maintained and updated to be as current as possible.

Howie Clean is Visionary's custom-built adult content filter. Howie Clean uses software built into any Windows, Mac, or Linux computer to limit pop-up windows that can be created by web sites you visit.
Howie Clean runs on a server at our facility. Once a computer is set to refer to that server, it sends web requests through the server to the internet. Web requests that could result in the display of inappropriate material are killed, and redirects to a Howie Clean page.
Howie Clean will also limit web searches for inappropriate material. It can be disabled by inputting a password on the computer to temporarily bypass the filter. There is also a setting that allows each computer user in the home to be filtered base on email address and password. |
