GILLETTE, WO (Mar. 10, 2025) – In a major milestone for digital equity and rural connectivity, Visionary Broadband has successfully delivered high-speed fiber broadband service to more than 10,000 residential customers across Wyoming, Colorado and Montana.
The company’s 2024 efforts focused on bridging the digital divide by reaching communities historically left behind due to economic and geographic challenges. Visionary’s expansion marks a critical step in ensuring residents in rural and remote areas have access to reliable, high-speed internet for work, education, healthcare, emergency response and entertainment — bringing economic opportunities, increased safety and digital empowerment to thousands.
The company’s latest achievements include the connection of 6,498 homes in Wyoming, 3,662 in Colorado, and 304 in Montana, to exceed the 10,000 milestone. These numbers represent a significant increase in fiber broadband availability in rural areas, enabling communities to compete in today’s digital economy.
“Access to high-speed fiber broadband is a necessity,” said Brian Worthen, CEO of Visionary Broadband. “Visionary has made incredible progress to bring connectivity to rural areas that have been historically neglected.”
Fiber broadband provides many benefits to communities, including WiFi calling over an Internet connection, which helps people in rural areas with unreliable cell coverage to reach 911 during an emergency. This past year, Visionary’s growth has included 11 newly connected or acquired
communities.
Wyoming now has the largest number of new residential fiber customers for the company, with 6,498 homes connected across 13 communities. Buffalo, Glendo, Sheridan and Wright were among new communities added last year.
In Colorado, the 3,662 homes that now have access to high-speed fiber broadband span 17 different communities. New communities on the list include Buena Vista, Cañon City, Chalk Creek, Leadville, Maysville, Poncha Springs, Salida and Westcliffe. The company’s 2025 plans include further expansion into underserved areas, including Coal Creek Canyon and Golden Gate Canyon.
Montana has also benefited from this expansion, with 304 homes in Hardin and Whitehall now connected to gigabit fiber.
