JAN 22, 2025 – Visionary Broadband Brings High-Speed Fiber Internet to Sheridan

SHERIDAN, WY (Jan. 22, 2025) – More Sheridan County residents will soon have access to reliable, 5 gigabit fiber internet thanks to a broadband expansion project by Visionary Broadband.
The project, made possible through a Capital Projects Fund (CPF) grant under the ConnectWY 2 initiative, addresses long-standing connectivity gaps in rural communities facing economic and geographic barriers to service.
The Wyoming Business Council, which oversees the ConnectWY 2 program, has been instrumental in this effort to ensure Sheridan’s families, businesses and institutions are no longer left behind in the digital age.
The expansion also connects to nearby Big Horn, further improving service for the region.
“Bringing high-speed internet to Sheridan has been a priority for Visionary because we understand the transformative power of connectivity,” said Visionary Broadband CEO Brian Worthen. “Thanks to the Wyoming Business Council and the ConnectWY 2 grant, we’re helping residents and businesses gain access to reliably learn and work online.”
This fiber project brings more than just faster internet speeds, it enhances community safety. Recent wildfires in the region have highlighted the importance of strong communication networks, particularly in areas where cell phone service can be unreliable.
Fiber internet ensures first responders and residents stay connected when it matters most.
“Expanding fiber broadband in Sheridan and Sheridan County is a huge step forward,” said State Rep. Cyrus Western. “It supports our community’s safety, provides opportunities for economic growth, and helps families and students stay connected in ways that weren’t possible before.”
The company’s role in Sheridan goes beyond broadband. Visionary sponsors cherished local events like the Sheridan WYO Rodeo. This fiber expansion reinforces the company’s commitment to the community.
