What if my speed is slow?
Speed tests can be used to get a general idea of how fast your connection is, but some things can cause you to get lower test results than you’re actually getting.
Always test plugged in rather than over wifi. Wifi is unreliable and can vary based on distance, the radio in your wifi device, and frequency interference. Also, especially with Windows 10, updates can be going on in the background. Power off all devices that are not in use, and run multiple tests throughout the day.
Also, try powering off and back on your equipment (modem, router, computer, etc). This can help restore speeds as well.
Test results vary based on the location of the server you’re testing to, so try multiple locations or multiple tests (like the Google Fiber Speedtest).
